Nelson Mandela reportedly critical



CAPE TOWN - Former President of South Africa (Africa) Nelson Mandela was hospitalized on Saturday (8/6) in a serious condition due to a recurrence of lung infections that have menggregotinya recent months.

Anti-apartheid leader's 94-year-old, previously had been hospitalized three times since December 2012 because of his health declined during the last few years.

According to presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj in a South African news channel, when Mandela was in stable condition but in a very serious situation. "The situation (Mandela) seriously this time. But doctors have assured us that he was in good shape," he said.

He said, this time around the Mandela family members accompanied him in the hospital while in Pretoria and remained at his bedside. He also said, Graca Machel, Mandela's wife canceled the presence at the summit of hunger in London to stay on the side of her husband.

Mandela is a powerful symbol of the struggle against white minority rule this decade, is very susceptible to respiratory problems due to contracting tuberculosis during the 27 years of his career behind bars under apartheid.

Maharaj said, Mandel treatment is necessary to give a chance of recovery. He also added that currently Mandel conscious and able to breathe on their own and communicate with relatives at his bedside. "He has a good spirit. He is a fighter and he will be with us in the battle," he added.

Earlier, a statement out of President Jacob Zuma, who said Mandela was in a bad condition. "Over the last few days, the infection of lung relapse of former President Nelson Mandela. And around 01.30 this morning, his condition deteriorated and he was transferred to the Pretoria skit," he said.

He said Mandel who will celebrate the 95th anniversary next month, were receiving care physicians and the doctors do everything they can ffor make her feel better and comfortable.

Just a note, Mandela forgiving spirit and help maintain confidence in the South African racial reconciliation moment of extreme tension up to the 1994 election. Nobel Peace Prize winner was also the first South African president elected in a democratic South Africa that year.

He is also a very powerful public figures last few decades, with charisma, strong memory and an incredible talent for articulating the aspirations of the people and win from those who oppose it.

Since his retirement from political life and from his post as president in 1999, Mandela was greatly respected because of his attitude. And in the decade since his retirement he has not wanted to be politically active.
