Confront the Nuclear Disaster, Japan Build Walls Ice


TOKYO - The Japanese government plans to build an underground wall of ice wrapped around the Fukushima nuclear reactor. Ice wall designed to prevent radioactive contamination.

Nuclear disaster in Fukushima is not yet subsided. One study mentioned, pollution levels in Fukushima has increased 18-fold.

Leaking Fukushima nuclear reactor after being hit by the tsunami in 2011. Leakage could trigger a state of emergency in the territory of Japan. Leakage is considered the biggest nuclear disaster since the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima City during World War II.

"The government will step in to face leakage," said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, as quoted by the Independent, Tuesday (09/03/2013).

"The world is watching our ability to overcome this disaster and stopping the leak of radioactive substances," he added.

Ice wall construction is estimated to cost up to 32 billion yen. Construction is scheduled for completion in March 2015
